The Special Spice Story (A True Tale)
Bucky ain't no chef but he can cook. Most of all Bucky loved makin' home fried potatoes. He even mixed up a batch of seasoning to put all over his spuds. He loved to make them for his guests.
One day Bucky's momma was over for breakfast. She asked him "What are you putting on those tasty taters, skillethead?"
"It's my own special spice, just the way I like it," said Bucky.
"How about makin'some for me to take home, I love this stuff!" his momma said.
Well, Bucky's momma was quite the social butterfly. She started serving it up to her friends. She put it on veggies, fish, and chicken, too.
People would ask "Miss Deborah, what did you put on this chicken? It's got a nice kick but it's not too spicy."
She'd tell them about the spice her boy was makin', and they'd want some too.
"Tell that taterhead we want it so bad we'll even PAY for it!"
So Bucky started making batches of spice to sell to his momma's friends. Later that year, Bucky was a little strapped for cash, so he gave everyone some Special Spice as a Christmas gift. They really loved it. But when the people ran out of spice, they were calling wanting more.
"Just ship it to us, we'll pay the postage," they would say.
Folks were getting downright ornery without their Special Spice. Everybody had a story, too. One guy put it on his popcorn. Another one used it to rub a rib. A lady swears she made the best fried chicken by putting it in the flour. Somebody used it to make beef jerky. Bucky was apparently onto something.
"Maybe I should sell this stuff on the internet!"
Gee,do ya think?
